Becoming a Yoga Teacher

The Foundations for the Mindful Teacher Training offers a rich foundation of cerebral information and sensory experiences that creates both a deepening of your personal practice and the context (for those so inspired), to teach yoga. It is also open to seekers – those dedicated yoga practitioners simply looking for a greater depth of knowledge. Either way, it’s a transformational process geared toward adult learners. We engage in gentle self-inquiry and review personal challenges and our habitual responses to difficulty so that we might grow as individuals. The result? Trainees learn how to become a positive force in their own lives and in their communities.

Most people, including us, want to become more flexible in mind and body; to experience stress relief and to have a high level of general fitness and improve overall health. Doing yoga and teaching yoga is the perfect tool to achieve all these goals. As a result of this course, you gain a strong sense of mental clarity, become physically stronger while giving something to yourself and ultimately, engendering the ability to give back to your community.

Our program insures that you will graduate with confidence in your voice and ability to teach a great yoga class! That includes smart sequencing, clear cueing, excellent themes and the confidence to translate passion into action.

How to Become Teacher

Join us on this journey of self-realization and growth that is designed to deepen the breadth of your personal practice while building a thorough and empowering foundation for the aspiring teacher. Upon completion you will have the tools and readiness to share your passion with confidence, grace, skill, creativity, intelligence and authenticity. Yoga Alliance Certified.

Experienced Teachers

Experienced and talented teachers who offer a breadth and depth of teaching that would be impossible to replicate elsewhere, teach the Foundations for the Mindful Teacher Training. You are guided through topics such as yoga philosophy, how to correctly perform and teach a wide range of poses, how to create a safe container for the transformative power of yoga, how to properly sequence a class and how to authentically brand and market yourself as a new teacher.

One of the most important underpinnings of the training is an alignment-based practice that promotes a safe, healing, life-affirming style of yoga that is informed by a deep knowledge of yoga philosophy and integrated practice.

You will be immersed in the application of breathwork, meditation/contemplative practices and the elements of Vinyasa Flow while also being introduced to Beginner’s 101, Power, Restorative, Yin styles of asana practice as taught by some of Tampa’s and the nation’s best and most seasoned instructors.

Suzanne "Shazam" Aronoff

Suzanne Aronoff began her yoga practice in 2004 to help counteract the physical wear and tear she experienced as a massage therapist and as a competitive runner in college. She was inspired to become an instructor for two reasons: the significant benefits from her own practice and to share yoga with her massage clients in hopes they would embrace the healing qualities of yoga and feel empowered to take a more active role in their physical well-being.

E-RYT 200. Suzanne has been a licensed massage therapist since 1992 and is a 2012 graduate of Cleveland Yoga’s 200hr Teacher Training.

Suzanne’s teaching focuses on safe alignment and finding the creative joy in connecting to the student through yoga. Her ability to intelligently convey how anatomy and alignment translates into embodying the poses and breathing significantly levels up your teaching and practice of the sacred technology of yoga. Her public classes are heartfelt, playful, challenging and supportive. She brings her massage background into her classes through hands on assists (maybe even a little massage during savasana) with a clear focus on alignment and physicality.

Tina Serra

Kristen has been teaching yoga since 2007. She was first introduced to yoga while living in rural China and immediately fell in love with the practice. She then traveled to India where she lived for six months while doing her 200hr teacher training in Rishikesh, India at Yog Peeth. She often travels back to further her studies in Vinyasa, Hatha, Ashtanga, and Yin yoga.

Her teaching style is dynamic, creative, and sweet. As an Ayurveda Practitioner, Kristen treats the yoga practice as an additional avenue for wellness. She often incorporates guided breathing exercises and meditations into her classes. Kristen teaches in Orlando, Tampa, and at international retreats and festivals.

Annette K. Scott

Annette has been teaching yoga since 2004. As a licensed massage therapist, yoga teacher, doula, aromatherapist and Reiki practitioner she creates intimate sacred and healing spaces for all who desire to realign their heart and minds through prayer, empowerment, and deep connection to Source. Annette points the way and helps you to heal from whatever is holding you back from living in alignment with love and your highest dharma. She intuitively offers an organic space to “sync in” to whatever is present in your life at the moment.

Her 16-year career has been spent integrating her love of yoga, bodywork, Buddhist and Yogic philosophy, aromatherapy, energy work and functional and dynamic exercise. Conveying the beauty of presence and awareness, in its raw wholeness, her offerings in meditation, movement and musings, serve to expand your horizon, and encourage anyone interested in their own growth to find new ways of self-discovery.

Annette was originally inspired to become a yoga teacher through her extensive work with Forrest Yoga Guardian, Cheryl Deer. She completed her 200hr and 300hr teacher trainings with Stephanie Keach at the Asheville School of Yoga. Annette is a lifelong learner and continues to draw from functional movement teachers like Doug Keller, Tom Meyers, Naudi Aguilar and Ido Portal.

Annette’s public classes are breath and sensation-based. Her sequencing is a symphony of movement for the mind, body and breath. The intent is to sensitively soften and hydrate the deep tissues with breath and attention, to balance the nervous system and release unnecessary tension so that you can feel your body more clearly. While we don’t chase postures, you can expect to be physically challenged and can plan on moving through balancing, binding, standing and twisting sequences while also receiving hands on assists that enable practitioners to feel and play with the edges of their practice. Our real work is practice the radiant expression of our authentic presence and as such cues become simple invitations to attune to what feels right for your body and grow your practice from there.

Her teachings are a dynamic interplay of deep listening, radical respect for oneself and others while establishing a conscious, compassionate presence.

Dr. Moses Bernard

Dr. Bernard holds a Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology from the University of Saskatchewan, in Saskatoon, Canada where he graduated with great distinction. He also holds a cum laude Doctor of Chiropractic degree from the Parker College of Chiropractic in Dallas, TX.

He has since expanded his education to include numerous post-graduate certifications in neuromuscular rehabilitation & sports performance enhancement. His post-graduate studies have ranged in fields as diverse as yoga therapy, infant neuro-motor development and Olympic weightlifting. Dr. Bernard has taught seminars throughout the United States, has had multiple articles published in peer-reviewed academic journals, and has presented findings from clinical studies at international research conventions.

In addition, Dr. Bernard recently served as the Postural Specialist & High Performance Liaison for Major league baseball’s Toronto Blue Jays. In this position, Dr. Bernard was the only Chiropractic Physician to travel with a professional baseball franchise in 2016.

Dr. Bernard is the only Kinstretch certified chiropractor in the entire Southeastern US, and among just a small handful of manual therapists with this certification worldwide. Kinstretch is based in scientifically proven principles that are applied in a group training class setting to create improved joint health, body control, injury prevention, physical longevity, and greater movement capacity. Unlike other systems, it was specifically created by medical and physical conditioning professionals to result in improved flexibility, strength, body control, and better quality of life.

Kinstretch practice also involves a self-assessment system allowing you the ability to monitor your own body for dysfunction that may be causing pain, loss of performance, or that may be putting you at an increased chance of injury. In addition to use with everyday people, it has also been used by professional coaches and athletes from around the world including the NFL, NBA, MLB, and NHL.

His approach focuses on identifying, evaluating and correcting movement imbalances to eliminate pain, and prevent joint degeneration. Dr. Bernard’s approach covers the spectrum from rehab to performance, and works regardless of whether you are injured, healthy, new to activity, or a world-class athlete.
